Disclaimer

Lane Workbench is a decision-support and reference tool. It is not legal advice, and it does not guarantee compliance with any law or regulation.

Terms of Service

Summary only. The complete agreement, including warranties, liability limits, indemnification, and dispute resolution, is the full Terms of Service & User Agreement.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Lane Workbench website, web application, or mobile application (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

2. The Service

Lane Workbench provides software tools that organize and present publicly available government trade data and generate AI-assisted advisory suggestions for trade compliance workflows. The Service is provided for use by trade professionals and businesses, not consumers.

3. Accounts and Subscriptions

Sign-in is passwordless via emailed magic link; you are responsible for the security of your email account and all activity under your Lane Workbench account. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe and renew automatically until canceled. Cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and no credits are given for partial periods. Full billing terms: Terms §7.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service to violate any law, including U.S. export control and sanctions laws; (b) rely on the Service as your sole compliance control; (c) resell, scrape, or systematically extract the Service or its outputs; (d) reverse engineer the Service; (e) use outputs to misrepresent a compliance status to any government authority.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us. U.S. Government data presented through the Service is public information; our arrangement, presentation, and generated content are proprietary. You retain ownership of the information you input.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY CLASSIFICATION, DETERMINATION, SCREENING RESULT, OR OTHER OUTPUT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT, OR THAT USE OF THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN COMPLIANCE WITH ANY LAW.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY FINES, PENALTIES, SEIZURES, LOST PROFITS, OR REGULATORY SANCTIONS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO USE OF THE SERVICE; AND (B) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

9. Modifications; Termination

We may modify the Service or these Terms with notice posted to this page. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms.

10. Governing Law; Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflicts of law. Disputes are resolved by binding individual arbitration in Denver, Colorado (with small-claims and IP carve-outs) under Terms §16.

Privacy Policy

What we process

What we do not do

Retention

The work you do in the Lane Workbench application โ€” your part library, saved determinations, screening records, and any files you attach โ€” is stored locally in your browser on your own device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

When you run an AI-assisted or screening request, the request is transmitted to the relevant service (our AI provider, or the U.S. Government Consolidated Screening List API) to return your result, and account and billing records are retained by our authentication and payment providers as needed to operate your subscription. We retain limited operational logs (such as error and security records) for a short period for reliability and abuse prevention, then delete them in the ordinary course. We do not retain the contents of your compliance queries beyond what is needed to return the result and secure the service.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Contact legal@laneworkbench.com and we will respond within a reasonable period consistent with applicable law, including the Colorado Privacy Act where it applies.

Changes

We will post changes to this policy here with an updated date.
